City Council
The City of Cedar Hill is a ‘Home Rule City’ with a Council-Manager form of government. Under this form of government, the elected City Council sets the policies for the City’s operation. The administrative responsibility of the City rests with the City Manager who is appointed by the City Council. The City Council consists of seven members - one Mayor and six Council members.

Ad Valorem Tax is based on 100% of market value as appraised by the Dallas Central Appraisal District. City tax exemptions are given to persons 65 years and older for $30,000, and disabled persons based on the severity of the disability. In addition, non-business vehicles are not taxed by the City.
