Community services are provided by both public and private agencies in Cedar Hill. In addition to the services listed below, several local groups sponsor a food pantry and private health care professionals maintain offices and clinics in the city.

 

Public Safety
Police Department:
67 full-time police officers & 17.5 civilians on staff and 10 volunteers.

Fire Department:
78 full-time staff, 4 stations, 21 vehicles including two 75-foot quints, 
2 pumpers and 4 MICU's (Mobile Intensive Care Units).

Additional Fire Equipment:
Light, Rescue and Breathing Air Vehicle; Family Safety Training Trailer,
1 grass/brush rig, 1 hose tender, 1 squad unit. Cedar Hill has mutual aid contracts with all of the Dallas County cities, Midlothian and Ovilla. These contracts include assistance for any incident or emergency medical need and automatic aid contracts with Duncanville and DeSoto.

Crime RateCedar Hill experienced a 7% decrease in the crime index for 2007 in comparison to 2006. In 2006, while the population increased by almost 4%, the crime rate fell by almost 4%. Cedar Hill's crime index rate remains well below the crime index average of other DFW cities.
