Educational opportunities A community college and four-year university are located within city limits and provide a variety of educational opportunities. The Best Southwest Small Business Development Center is also located in Cedar Hill at Cedar Valley Center. Cedar Hill ISD as well as area private primary and secondary schools have been recognized for excellence.
Northwood University Northwood University is located in the beautiful wooded hills near Joe Pool Lake on a 350-acre campus. Northwood offers four-year Bachelor of Business Administration degrees and two-year Associate degrees. Fifteen programs are offered included: accounting, marketing, international business, hotel and restaurant management, fashion marketing, advertising and general business. Cedar Valley Center at Cedar Hill The new Cedar Valley Center at Cedar Hill offers state-of-the-art job training facilities including free counseling, research assistance, job skill assessment, distance learning, teleconferencing and business counseling through the Small Business Development Center. University of North Texas -- Dallas Campus (12 minutes from Cedar Hill)
The UNT Dallas campus began offering classes in Fall, 1999, while construction of a new campus began. The new campus opened Fall, 2005. Phone (972) 280-3600.
Cedar Hill ISD Cedar Hill ISD (www.chisd.com) is a 5A District with over 7800 students, 800 employees and 13 schools. It is Cedar Hill’s second largest employer.
Cedar Hill ISD is dedicated to providing the community with a world-class educational system. To meet the opportunities and challenges of an ever-growing city and school district, improvements and additions are being made.
The district opened a new Ninth Grade Center and Middle School in the fall of 2005. Another exciting sign of growth and change is the current construction of the Municipal Government Center, a project that is being undertaken by the City of Cedar Hill in collaboration with Cedar Hill ISD . This is the only such project of its nature in the state of Texas and only one other is known to exist in the United States at large.
Cedar Hill ISD had four Recognized schools in 2006: Bray Elementary, High Pointe Elementary, Lake Ridge Elementary, and Waterford Oaks Elementary. Several campuses were acknowledged for commended performances including:
- Beltline Intermediate School, Bray Elementary, Lake Ridge Elementary, and Waterford Oaks Elementary (For ELA/reading)
- Bray Elementary, High Pointe Elementary, Lake Ridge Elementary, and Waterford Oaks Elementary (For math)
Cedar Hill Independent School District board meetings are held on the second Monday of the month at the Cedar Hill Independent School District Administration Building, 270 S. Hwy 67 in Cedar Hill. The public is welcome to attend.

Private Schools
Trinity Christian School has an enrollment of 471 in grades PK3-12, a staff of 52 (Fall of 2002). The school provides a complete educational experience in a Christian atmosphere, based on a biblical world view, enabling students to become outstanding Christian leaders in society.
