The City of Cedar Hill celebrates Economic Development Week from May 8-14.  Economic Development week was created by the International Economic Development Council in commemoration of its 90-year anniversary as the largest professional membership organization for economic developers.

Economic Developers are charged with generating economic growth, creating better jobs for residents and facilitating an improved quality of life.  The industry remains as complex, challenging and rewarding as ever.  The economic development efforts provided by economic developers are being showcased this week locally and nationally.

At this week’s City Council Meeting, held May 10, Mayor Rob Franke presented:  “a Proclamation designating May 8-14, 2016 as Economic Development Week in Cedar Hill and in recognition of the International Economic Development Council's 90th year and the Year of the Economic Development Professional.”

This week celebrates and commends themany years of hard work and leadership from economic development volunteers, board members, advocates, community partners, brokers, real estate professionals and staff members.  Anyone and everyone who is contributing to the growth and prosperity of Cedar Hill.  Economic Development Director Allison J.H. Thompson was also recognized this week by IEDC in their profile series celebrating economic developers across the country, titled 52 Weeks of Economic Developers - Week 19.
